Purikura History
Purikura (プリクラ) is a form of photo booth that originated in Japan, where people can take fun photos and customize them with a variety of effects, frames, and decorations. The term “purikura” is an abbreviation of “print club” in English, and refers to the photographic prints that are generated on these devices.
The purikura was first introduced in Japan in the early 90s. The first purikura was created by the Japanese company Sega in 1995. These machines allowed users to take group photos, which could then be customized with different effects and decorations.
